Mount Gambier Library will welcome best-selling South Australian author Leonie Kelsall back to the city to talk about her latest rural romance novel The Wattle Seed Inn on Wednesday 7 July at 7:00pm.

Leonie’s heartwarming second novel follows her highly successful debut novel The Farm at Peppertree Crossing which sold out in just two weeks following its release.

“Her characters are complex and her writing descriptive, appealing to those who love a good family saga”.

Leonie has again drawn on her rural upbringing on a farm near the Murray River as a source of inspiration for her second novel. Today she splits her time between this same family farm and her home in the Adelaide Hills where she also runs a professional counselling practice.

“Being privileged to live in such beautiful countryside is an inspiration that is almost too wonderful to capture in words,” Leonie said.

The Wattle Seed Inn centres around Gabrielle Moreau who, after leaving behind her ex-fiance and PR career in Adelaide, takes over Wirruldi Hotel, a ramshackle pub in a small country town near the Murray River. But as rural life and the scope of her new renovation project begin to prove a challenge unlike anything she faced during her comfortable life in the city, Gabrielle begins to doubt herself and her decision.

Meanwhile, in nearby Settlers Bridge, broken-hearted stonemason Hayden Paech is going through life’s motions. Recovering from a decision he still regrets, Hayden refuses to open himself up to love again, even if it’s the one thing missing from his life.
