City of Mount Gambier will improve vehicle and pedestrian safety on Ramsay Avenue following community feedback.
City Infrastructure General Manager Nick Serle said Council considered traffic safety and parking requirements on Ramsay Avenue and will implement improved safety measures in the coming months.
“Ramsay Avenue is a busy road for businesses and the surrounding residential area and is used as a thoroughfare to and from Jubilee Highway East,” Mr Serle said.
“As a result of community feedback, traffic calming/channelling devices, specifically two lane angled slow points, will be installed on the curve of Ramsay Avenue outside Akuna Kindergarten. Line-marking and signage outlining on street parking restrictions will also be installed as part of this project,” Mr Serle said.
In addition, Council will extend the Council owned car park next to Akuna Kindergarten to include 15 additional car spaces.
The extension of the car park will ease parking issues in the area and provide a safe drop off and pick up areas for the kindergarten.- City Infrastructure General Manager Nick Serle
The works will commence in the coming months.
