Put your gloves on for Clean Up Australia Day

​Get your friends and family together and help make Mount Gambier clean and green at this year’s Clean Up Australia Day to be held this weekend, Sunday 4 March 2018. Every year local communities get together to roll up their sleeves and clean up their local schools, parks, sporting grounds, road sides and city centre areas by collecting and removing rubbish. Youth Strategy & Culture & Heritage Plan delivered

​City of Mount Gambier Councillors will meet to prioritise recommendations from the landmark Youth Engagement Strategy and the Culture and Heritage Plan respectively at a workshop on Tuesday 27 February 2018. The Youth Engagement Strategy and the Culture and Heritage Plan deliver on key initiatives of the Community Plan – The Futures Paper 2016 – 2020, Council’s overarching strategic plan. Mount Gambier Disc Golf Course
23 February 2018

Mount Gambier now boasts 18 permanent baskets at the professionally designed Mount Gambier Disc Golf course at Browne’s Lake, which is free for community use. The club had been using portable baskets before the City of Mount Gambier supported the establishment of the course with a $22,000 boost from its 2017/18 budget. Read full article

ReUse Market under construction
22 February 2018

Construction has begun at the Mount Gambier ReUse Market site located at 3 and 5 Eucalypt Drive, the former salvage yard site next to the Waste Transfer Station. Thomson Bilt began construction on the offloading and storage shed in late January 2018. The $560,000 facility is on track to be operational by October 2018. Read full article

Taxi Regulation
21 February 2018

At its meeting on Tuesday 20 February 2018, ​the City of Mount Gambier resolved to support the local and wider taxi industry to lobby the State Government for improved state wide regulation and oversight of regional taxi services. Such support might occur as part of the transition of the Mount Gambier taxi industry from a Council regulated, to a state regulated environment. Read full article

$250,000 Rail Trail Funding Boost
20 February 2018

The City of Mount Gambier welcomes a $250,000 State Government funding boost announced this week to complete stage three of the Rail Trail project. The shared walking and cycling path will be extended from Jubilee Highway West to Wandilo Road and past Pick Avenue to Jubilee Highway East, to link with a walking track at Blue Lake Sports Park, a total of 2.6 kilometres of extra path. 2017 Mayor's Christmas Appeal recognition

City of Mount Gambier Mayor Andrew Lee is pleased to recognise the generous donors who contributed to the 2017 Mount Gambier Community Mayor’s Christmas Appeal. The appeal aims to raise much needed funds for distribution to local welfare agencies including the Salvation Army, St Vincent de Paul Society, Uniting Care Mount Gambier, ac.care and Lifeline South East who provided food hampers and other benefits to the less fortunate at Christmas in 2017. Mount Gambier Cultural Fund open for applications

The City of Mount Gambier Cultural Fund is open for applications. A total of $25,000 is available to local artists, community groups and not-for-profit organisations to support the delivery of inspiring, creative and contemporary projects that contribute to a connected, vibrant and culturally diverse community. Taxi By-Law
19 February 2018

The legislation that permitted Council to make the current Taxi By-Law was repealed by State Parliament on 31 March 2016. Therefore, the Taxi Regulation By-Law will not be replaced and Council’s Taxi Licensing scheme will cease on 1 January 2019. This means that Council will no longer regulate taxi fees or operating hours, undertake annual taxi/meter inspections, or deal with service complaints associated with taxi operations.
