Ripley Arcade Public Art Project Begins

The blank walls on James Street are being transformed into a nature scene by two talented interstate artists as part of the Ripley Arcade Public Art Project. To enhance the cultural integrity and visual appeal in the heart of the CBD, the City of Mount Gambier sought expressions of interest from artists in September 2017 to develop contemporary public art works for the blank walls on James Street near Ripley Arcade and Percy Street. Emily and Mitchell joint Exceptional Junior Winners

Two local basketball high achievers Emily Close and Mitchell Hunter have been announced as joint winners of the 2017 Commercial Club Exceptional Junior Award. The talented young athletes will each receive $500 from the Junior Sports Assistance Fund for their demonstration of exceptional skills and commitment to achieve excellence on the court. Commercial Club supports young sports people

The City of Mount Gambier Junior Sports Assistance Fund has received a $2,500 boost from the Commercial Club Inc. of Mount Gambier to provide financial support to families of young sports people in our district​. Commercial Club Inc. President Graham Dent presented the donation to the Presiding Member of the Junior Sports Assistance Fund Deputy Mayor Cr Hanna Persello. Read full article

Fringe in Mount Gambier a resounding success

Mount Gambier came alive during the Fringe Festival, 24 March – 2 April 2018 as 12,000 people flocked to various shows and performances, including the Liftoff Party and Showcase event. The party centred around the Cave Garden which was filled with locals and visitors who were keen to celebrate arts, culture, music and great food. Read full article

Council to revisit feasibility study for recreation facility
21 March 2018

The City of Mount Gambier resolved to allocate $30,000 from its budget to prepare documentation for a proposed multifunctional indoor recreation and aquatic centre at its monthly meeting last night. Planning will include the revision of a feasibility study and concept plans, facility management options and a ratepayer impact report, including initial engagement with various stakeholder groups. Claret Ash tree succumbs to strong winds

​City of Mount Gambier outdoor staff are removing the remains of a large fallen Claret Ash tree in the Cave Garden this morning. The 70 year old tree was 20 metres high and succumbed to wind gusts of more than 70 kilometres an hour on Sunday morning following a storm that hit the city on Saturday night. Read full article

Fringe in Mount Gambier

The Cave Garden and surrounding venues are set to come alive next weekend as the Fringe in Mount Gambier program heats up on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 March. A huge array of local and interstate talent forms part of the festival that has been curated by local musician Louise Adams, local artist Mark de Nys and internationally renowned choreographer Lewis Major. Five By-Laws up for public comment

​The City of Mount Gambier is undertaking public consultation on five proposed By-Laws to replace existing By-Laws which will expire on 1 January 2019. By-Laws enable Council to regulate activities within the Council area that are not specifically addressed by other legislative and regulatory provisions. Read full article
