Enterprise Dairy Trainer Program Delegation

​Four veterinary officers from India visited the Limestone Coast this week for the commencement of an intensive training program developed by TAFE SA in conjunction with private Indian dairy company Parag Milk Foods. International Video Arts Festival coming soon

The Riddoch Art Gallery will host the inaugural International Limestone Coast Video Art Festival in Mount Gambier from 29 September to 21 October 2018 to showcase innovative works created by 35 local, Australian and international video artists. Based on the theme ‘The Lived Body’ the festival focuses on art projects that reveal the human relationship with technology and nature, demonstrating the complexity of contemporary life and how technology is used to respond to challenges in the 21st century. Exploits of the notorious 'Stoccos' divulged

​In 2007, after a run-in with police, father and son Gino and Mark Stocco disappeared into the Australian bush. For the next eight years they committed crime after crime up and down the east coast of Australia; terrorising locals, stealing what they wanted, committing arson and even murder. Nino Bucci is an investigative reporter and has closely examined this dark and eccentric story to write the true-crime book 'The Stoccos; Like Father Like Son' to be launched with the Mount Gambier Library on Thursday 13 September at 7:00pm at City Hall, Main Corner Complex. Entries now open for the 2018 Christmas Parade

Entries are now open for the 2018 NF McDonnell and Sons Mount Gambier Christmas Parade. This year the parade is in its 59th year and will be held on Saturday 17 November 2018. With more than $3500 in prize money to be won, City of Mount Gambier is encouraging all community groups, sporting clubs, schools, businesses and individuals to fill in an entry form and get behind the festive event. Sort and Save Campaign

​From Monday 10 September 2018 the Waste Transfer Station on Eucalypt Drive will take useful unwanted items donated for sale at the ReUse Market when it opens later this year. City of Mount Gambier Environmental Sustainability Officer Aaron Izzard said the facility will take a variety of quality items that are suitable for a new home. Read full article

Nomination period now open

Lake Terrace Cemetery Commemorates 150 Years

​The Mount Gambier History Group will commemorate 150 years of burials at the Lake Terrace Cemetery on Sunday 2 September 2018. Edward Hodge, the 13 week old baby son of Thomas and Harriet Hodge was the first burial at the cemetery. Read full article

Council hosts investment delegation

​A small delegation of Adelaide based investors originally from China recently visited the South East for a two day tour to explore potential investment opportunities. CRG and architects revise rec centre plans

​The Mount Gambier Regional Sport and Recreation Centre Committee and the Community Reference Group (CRG) met with architects at the Civic Centre last night to discuss intermediate designs for the project funding proposal. DesignInc Adelaide and architectural partner CO-OP Studio Melbourne presented amended designs for the facility following CRG input and feedback from community engagement sessions in recent weeks. Mayor responds to survey comments

City of Mount Gambier Mayor Andrew Lee has moved to respond to commentary about the cost of a survey for the proposed Mount Gambier Regional Sport and Recreation Centre and how it should be administered throughout the community. At a meeting this week, Council resolved the timing for an elector survey on the proposed facility after the Local Government Elections in November. Read full article
