CEO Mark McShane announces retirement

Crochet Club to host exhibition

​The Mount Gambier Library MakerSpace Crochet Club will host its second annual exhibition with a variety of work on display and for sale, including clothing, tablecloths, bags, toys and a unique array of other precious hand-made items. The exhibition will be held on Saturday 10 November from 10:00am to 2:00pm and on Sunday 11 November from 11:00am and 2:00pm. Read full article

Three new exhibitions to open at the Riddoch

​Three exhibitions will open at the Riddoch Art Gallery on Friday 2 November 2018 at 6:00pm. Discovering the Portrait will reveal portraiture as an innovative and shape-shifting genre, Afresh will include a brand-new site-specific installation by Mount Gambier born artist Jane Skeer and Contestable Bodies – Alternate Anatomical Architectures by legendary Australian performance artist Stelarc will provide insight into what it means to be human. Mount Gambier ReUse Market opens this week
30 October 2018

The Mount Gambier ReUse Market opened its doors for the first time on Wednesday 31 October 2018 between 10:00am and 2:00pm at 3 Eucalypt Drive. The ReUse Market is a place to find second hand goods and aims to reduce waste going to landfill by reusing and upcycling useful items. Following the recruitment of Market Coordinator Rebecca Mobbs earlier this year, the project has been full steam ahead with two additional staff members appointed to the team. Read full article

NF McDonnell and Sons float unveiled

​The 2018 NF McDonnell and Sons Mount Gambier Christmas Parade is just three weeks away and excitement is building following the unveiling of a new float for this year’s line-up. For the past three months City of Mount Gambier staff, artist Mel Cecotti of Psychotti Art and a team of dedicated volunteers have been busy working on the creation of a pine tree themed float for major sponsor NF McDonnell and Sons. State Government Fringe Funding Welcomed
22 October 2018

​The City of Mount Gambier has welcomed the State Government’s announcement of a $10,000 annual funding boost for the Mount Gambier Fringe Festival for the next three years. The funds are in addition to the South Australian Tourism Commission’s (SATC) commitment in September to provide $10,000 towards the marketing of the event through the 2018-19 Regional Events and Festivals Program. Vote in the 2018 Local Government Elections

The Electoral Commission SA will distribute postal ballot papers to voters for the 2018 November local government elections from today. Individuals who are on the state (House of Assembly) electoral roll or have completed an enrolment for the supplementary roll, will receive a voting pack in the mail between Monday 22 to Friday 26 October 2018. $15million Federal Funding Announcement
19 October 2018

The City of Mount Gambier’s Expression of Interest (EOI) for funds as part of the Federal Regional Growth Fund (RGF) to build the proposed Mount Gambier Community and Recreation Hub has progressed to stage two. Council is excited to learn that $15million has been earmarked for the project, following an announcement by Federal Member for Barker Tony Pasin at the Mount Gambier Chamber of Commerce Gala Awards Night held at the Barn Palais this evening. State success for local GovHack teams
19 October 2018

Following the GovHack Open Data Competition held at the Mount Gambier Library in September local teams were recognised at the GovHack Open Data State Awards held in Adelaide on Wednesday 10 October 2018. Representing their teams, 'Just We Three' and 'Bachmanns and Fullwoods', Charlene Bachmann and Elly Bachmann were among other awardees at the prestigious event. Read full article

Community & Recreation Hub planning progresses
18 October 2018

Following months of work with the community and external specialists, the intermediate designs and draft financial modelling for the proposed Mount Gambier Community and Recreation Hub have been completed. Based on the capital cost of $39.1 million, financials, operating models and grant income, the City of Mount Gambier does not foresee the need for rate increases specific to the operation of the facility.
