Rook Walk Centenary to be celebrated
22 November 2018
Tuesday 27 November 2018 will mark 100 years to the day since more than 2000 people assembled at the lakes area to take part in one of the greatest days of community effort in the city’s history to build Rook Walk. City of Mount Gambier and the Mount Gambier History Group will hold a centenary celebration at the site adjacent to the Blue Lake and the public is invited to attend.

Community and Recreation Hub Info Sessions

Do you have questions or would you like to know more about the Community and Recreation Hub before you take part in the postal survey later this month? Come along to a pop up information session during November and have a chat with the project team. Look out for your survey in the mail in coming weeks for the chance to have your say on whether the proposed facility should proceed. Surveys must be in the post by 21 December 2018.

2018 Mount Gambier Christmas Parade Winners
19 November 2018
More than 16,000 people lined Commercial Street on Saturday 17 November 2018 for the NF McDonnell and Sons Mount Gambier Christmas Parade. Recycled Runway’s ‘Wear It, Don’t Waste It’ was named the most outstanding entry. The entry showcases the work of participants who create a new outfit from a pre-selected bag of op-shop clothes which are then modelled on a runway.

Local 'brass band man' to be honoured
14 November 2018
Mount Gambier’s own ‘brass band man’ Allen Woodham OAM will be honoured by the Christmas Parade Advisory Group for 20 years involvement in coordinating the Lions Club of Mount Gambier Brass Band Festival, including the organisation of bands marching in the annual Mount Gambier Christmas Parade.

Local teens take out national win

Mount Gambier teenage trio Lilli Fulwood, Elly Bachmann and Dale Bachmann received top honours at the GovHack Open Data Competition National Awards taking out the Best National Youth Team award at the red carpet event held in Sydney on Saturday 10 November 2018.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the City of Mount Gambier with final preparations underway for the NF McDonnell and Sons Mount Gambier Christmas Parade. In its 59th year, the Christmas Parade traditionally heralds the arrival of the festive season and will commence at 11:00am on Saturday 17 November 2018.

Community and Recreation Hub Engagement
09 November 2018
In the lead up to the release of a community postal survey later this month, the City of Mount Gambier is encouraging the community to be informed about the proposed Mount Gambier Community and Recreation Hub. Council’s project team will hit the streets and will be present at a variety of locations throughout the city to answer questions about the proposed facility.
