As at Tuesday 18 December 2018, a total of 6,207 Community and Recreation Hub postal survey responses have been received by independent survey provider Market Solutions. This represents a response rate of 32.11 per cent of 19,332 electors in the City of Mount Gambier. Read full article

Interim CEO Appointed

It follows current CEO Mark McShane’s announcement last month that he will retire from the role in mid-February 2019. Mr Maxwell has extensive experience within the realm of local government. ​The Mount Gambier ReUse Market was officially opened on Saturday 8 December 2018. The market provides a variety of second hand goods for sale at 3 Eucalypt Drive Mount Gambier and aims to reduce waste going to landfill by upcycling and reusing useful items. Read full article

Mount Gambier joins the Compost Revolution

​The City of Mount Gambier has joined the Compost Revolution, an online platform encouraging Australians to turn food scraps into soil and fertiliser. City residents can cut their waste in half and reduce their carbon footprint just by composting at home. In partnership with the Compost Revolution, Council is offering residents free online training and discounted composting kits to recycle their food scraps at home instead of sending them to landfill. ​Author Angela Kirby will return to her home town of Mount Gambier to launch her latest book ‘Creating Wisdom and Magic in Life and Love’ at the Mount Gambier Library on Saturday 8 December at 11:00am. Angela is a visual artist, trans-personal art therapist, counsellor and integrated therapist. She has a passion for helping people and being creative. Council supports Community and Recreation Hub

The newly elected members of City Council are united in support of the Community and Recreation Hub proposal. At the Statutory Meeting on Thursday 22 November 2018 Council endorsed seven Community and Recreation Hub reports and spoke strongly of the benefits the proposed hub could provide to the community.
