Blue Lake path returns to two-way traffic

​City of Mount Gambier has reinstated two-way pedestrian traffic around the entire Blue Lake exercise path. Council encourages people to continue to practise physical distancing and remain 1.5 metres away from other walkers and runners where practically possible. Read full article

Australia Day 2021 Citizenship Ceremony

2021 Tertiary Health Education Grants Program
25 January 2021

​The Mount Gambier and District Tertiary Health Education Grant program will provide up to 12 financial grants to local students undertaking tertiary studies in 2021 within the health field and is now open for applications. The program supports City of Mount Gambier and District Council of Grant residents who are required to leave the region to undertake university studies in health skills shortage areas within the community. Melaleuca Reserve Neighbourhood Pump Track

Construction on the Melaleuca Reserve Neighbourhood Pump Track located on the corner of Douglas Street and Pressey Street has now been completed. The new 91 metre looped neighbourhood pump track replaces the BMX dirt track formerly used at the reserve. Read full article

Bike maintenance station installed along Rail Trail

​A bike pump and maintenance station has been installed at the Mount Gambier Railway Lands, enabling cyclists to undertake maintenance and repairs at a central and convenient location along the popular Rail Trail shared path. Read full article

General Manager Shared Services appointed

​The City of Mount Gambier has appointed a new General Manager Shared Services to the senior executive team. Commencing in the role this week, Darren Barber joins Council following his most recent role as Manager Organisational Development at Southern Grampians Shire. Read full article

Bulky Waste Trial wraps up

​The City of Mount Gambier bulky waste trial has concluded with Council considering a report at the December 2020 meeting summarising the results of the introductory initiative. As part of Council’s ‘Our City, Our Response’ COVID-19 initiatives each residential property was invited to access one free bulky waste collection by appointment between the period of July and December 2020.
