2020 Junior Sports Exceptional Junior Awards
10 September 2021
Local athletes Emily Lynch and Elwood Geary have been named the 2020 City of Mount Gambier Junior Sports Assistance Fund Exceptional Juniors. The 13-year-old athletes will receive a $1000 cash prize each, sponsored by the Mount Gambier Commercial Club.

Santa’s Boulevard at the Valley Lake in 2021
06 September 2021
Due to COVID restrictions, the NF McDonnell and Sons annual Christmas Parade will return in a modified format once again in 2021. City of Mount Gambier will present Santa’s Boulevard, a drive by static Christmas spectacle including floats, lights and decorations to be held on Haig Drive at the Valley Lake over five nights in November.

Spring has sprung with textiles at The Riddoch

The Riddoch Arts and Culture Centre is leaping into spring with a series of exhibitions focusing on textiles. Two solo exhibitions with local connections will launch on Friday 10 September at 6:00pm, including Domestic Arts by Sera Waters and Close to Home by Joann Fife.

Timber to be donated to National Trust of SA
19 August 2021
City of Mount Gambier will donate a portion of the salvaged timber beams from the Railway Lands Roundhouse building to the National Trust of South Australia. The timber will be used for the repair and restoration of the Roundhouse building at Peterborough and follows a request from the Trust discussed at the August Council meeting.

Big Book Sale returns for 2021
19 August 2021
Local volunteer group Friends of the Mount Gambier Library will host the rescheduled Big Book Sale on Sunday 29 August 2021 at the Mount Gambier Library. Providing a chance for the community to grab a bargain with thousands of books, and other items including DVDs, CDs and jigsaw puzzles, the sale will be scattered throughout the Library to comply with current COVID-19 directions.

Back to the drawing board for shared path extension

City of Mount Gambier will amend the scope of the shared path extension connecting the Rail Trail to TAFE SA on Wireless Road due to construction constraints identified on the original routes proposed.

Library Bookmark Café to close
17 August 2021
The Bookmark Café located in the Mount Gambier Library will close in its current format at the end of the contract on Friday 20 August 2021. Limestone Coast Pantry has been operating the Bookmark Café for almost two years and supported the Library during the challenges of providing modified services during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
