The Mount Gambier Library together with the City of Mount Gambier Youth Advisory Group (YAG) will launch 2018 Youth Week with ‘LOUD in the Library’ on Friday 13 April 2018 from 6:30pm until 8:30pm.
Celebrating its seventh year, the Library comes alive with music, entertainment and activities as a free event that attracts more than 300 young people.
“LOUD in the Library is a platform for showcasing local talent and celebrates the contributions that youth have made to our local community,” Library Youth Services Coordinator Terasa Nearmy said.
“This free event for 12 to 25 year olds wouldn’t be possible without the support of local businesses and organisations that donate their time and resources.”
The crowd will be entertained by local music groups Skategoats, Swooped Paradox and Skyline Haze as well as live dance performances by HYPE Dance Studio and Cultural Dancers.
There will be activities scattered throughout the Library for youth to join in with, such as a chance to take home some happy snaps with a free photobooth, glitter tattoos and a chance to join in with LAN Gaming and Minute to Win it Challenge.
A barbecue, fresh fruit and drinks will be supplied thanks to generous donations from She’s Apples, Bakers Delight, Collin’s Court Butcher and the Rotary Club of Mount Gambier and vegetarian nachos thanks to the Sunset Community Kitchen.
“We hope to see another successful LOUD in the Library event and encourage our local youth to grab their friends and come down to support this event that is dedicated to them,” Ms Nearmy said.
