The Junior Sports Assistance Fund farewelled two long term committee members at its November meeting.
Junior Sports Assistance Fund Presiding Member Josh Lynagh accepted the resignations of long-standing committee members Jeanette Elliott OAM and Karen Cunningham.
“Jeanette has been a passionate and invaluable member of the committee since its inception in 1988. 35 years on her passion and commitment to the fund has not waivered,” Cr Lynagh said.
The Junior Sports Assistance Fund is such a beneficial program supporting juniors in their sporting endeavours. The cost for regional juniors to fulfill their desire in representing the State is significant and it has been so rewarding to be involved in an initiative that is able to assist families with the financial costs as well as providing funding to our member organisations to run specialist programs. - Jeanette Elliott OAM
Karen has also been a dedicated committee member for the past nine years and believes that the work of the fund plays a valuable role in supporting our local junior sportspersons.
“On behalf of the City of Mount Gambier, the District Council of Grant and the committee and member organisations of the fund, we extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to Jeanette and Karen for their committed and invaluable contribution, ensuring the success of the fund and we wish them all the very best in their future endeavours,” Cr Lynagh said.
“We would also like to welcome new Committee Members, Di Gould and Andrew Matheson who are both actively involved in our local sporting community. We look forward to working with Di and Andrew to ensure the continued success of the Junior Sports Assistance Fund.”
