International Limestone Coast Video Art Festival

International Limestone Coast Video Art Festival
06 March 2018

The Main Corner and Riddoch Art Gallery will host the inaugural International Limestone Coast Video Art Festival in Mount Gambier from 29 September to 21 October 2018.  Submissions are now open and Australian and international video artists are invited to apply for a chance to win a grand prize of $3,000.

The festival will celebrate video art and place special emphasis on innovative and ground-breaking video art internationally, including the work of Australian and South Australian artists.

“We encourage innovative works created by video artists, and our 2018 program will include an exhibition, conference, screenings, workshops and performances,” Riddoch Art Gallery Director Dr Melentie Pandilovski said.

Entry is free, and may include up to three original works. Submitted works can be up to 12 minutes long and must be produced in the period from January 2014 to February 2018.  Entries are open now and close on Friday, 30 March 2018.

The festival aims to raise the scope of programming at the Riddoch Art Gallery and Main Corner by presenting an experimental and innovative exhibition, alongside a diverse program that challenge established ways of thinking.

The theme for the 2018 Festival is ‘The Lived Body’. It focuses on art projects that reveal the human relationship to both technology and nature, and attempts to provide a metaphorical response via video art.

“Our program promises to stimulate, reveal, and surprise,” Dr Pandilovski said.
