City of Mount Gambier Junior Sports Assistance Fund recently announced Tantanoola based hockey player Georgia Clarke as the 2018 Commercial Club Inc Exceptional Junior awardee. The talented hockey star will receive $1,000 through the fund, as part of a $2,500 donation from the Mount Gambier Commercial Club to support junior sportspeople in the region.
The Exceptional Junior initiative was developed to celebrate and acknowledge a junior sportsperson who demonstrates exceptional commitment and skills to achieve excellence in their chosen sport. The awardee is selected based on their ability to achieve their fullest potential and is also based on their willingness to give back to their sport.
Georgia has represented South Australia at national level since 2013 and is a current member for the South Australian under 18 girls team, Priority Athlete Program and the Limestone Coast Regional Sports Academy Program. While playing locally for West Hockey Club Georgia also travels to Adelaide to play Premier League Hockey for Adelaide Hockey Club.
Georgia has given back to her sport though the Lower South East Hockey Association Junior Panel Umpiring Program and assists with coaching and mentoring.
