Regular Crochet Club attendee Rhonda Robinson is excited for the Crochet Club exhibition at the Library this weekend.

The Mount Gambier Library MakerSpace Crochet Club will host its second annual exhibition with a variety work on display and for sale, including clothing, tablecloths, bags, toys and a unique array of other precious hand-made items. The exhibition will be held on Saturday 10 November from 10:00am to 2:00pm and on Sunday 11 November from 11:00am and 2:00pm.

Consisting of approximately 60 members, the Crochet Club is of a lively bunch of community members that meet twice a week. Many joined as beginners while others revisited their crafting hobby after many years. The club is coordinated by local volunteer Val Milner. Val has dedicated hundreds of hours of her time to share her knowledge and skills in this crafting area and in addition has commenced an ‘Absolute Beginner’s Workshop’ running over four weeks. Anyone interested in joining one of these groups can contact the Mount Gambier Library to register their interest.

Rhonda Robinson, a regular attendee at the Crochet Club and self-taught crochet enthusiast joined the club to enhance her skills.

“I have been crocheting for about five years now but through the club I have been able to enhance my skills. So much so that I took out three first prize categories this year at the Mount Gambier Show for my crocheting,” Mrs Robinson said.

The Crochet Club meet every Monday and Friday from 2:00pm until 4:00pm at the Mount Gambier Library and new members are welcome to join any time. As well as sharing new ideas and skills the group have formed friendships and actively get together for other social events.

The exhibition is open to the public and is a chance to meet some of the group members and maybe even join to find out why this craft has made such a popular comeback.
