Generations in Jazz Festival
This is an extraordinary experience to listen, perform, respect and develop a true appreciation for a truly wonderful sound.
In 1987 Generations in Jazz began in Mount Gambier as a small gathering of jazz lovers, who wanted to pass on their passion for jazz music to the next generation. A little over thirty years later it has grown into one of the largest events of its type in the world. It is a music festival which incorporates a National Stage Band Award, Small Jazz Combo Award, Vocal Ensemble Award, GIJ Vocal Scholarship, The James Morrison Scholarship as well as a host of other awards for excellence in music. In 2018 almost 5000 participants gave approximately 1,000 performances across 13 stages and this year will continue to expand.
